Editorial policy
WaterDailyGoal is a wellness utility, not a medical publication. This page explains how we choose sources, review calculations, and keep the tool honest.
What we publish
We publish hydration calculators, reference charts, and plain-language guidance for generally healthy adults. We do not diagnose, treat, or replace clinician advice. Sensitive topics such as pregnancy, older adults, GLP-1 medications, kidney, heart, or liver conditions always keep a clear healthcare-provider caution.
Source standards
Core formulas are anchored to widely recognised public-health and nutrition sources, including the U.S. National Academies, EFSA, WHO, the NHS, Mayo Clinic, USGS, and peer-reviewed hydration-index research. The source list and formula assumptions live on the methodology page.
Formula reviews
The current formula version is WDG-2026.06. We review the methodology when a major source changes, when a calculator receives a meaningful logic update, or at least once per content-refresh cycle. Each result remains an estimate; day-to-day needs still change with heat, exercise, illness, altitude, diet, and medication.
Corrections and updates
When we find a factual error, broken calculation, outdated source, or unclear safety wording, we update the affected page and bump the relevant review notes. We do not use fake medical reviewers or invented author credentials. If a credentialed reviewer is added in the future, the reviewer identity and scope will be visible.
Privacy and independence
Calculator inputs run in the browser. The site is free, no signup is required, and the calculator does not need personal identifiers to work. We currently do not run display ads or affiliate lead-gen flows.
